Sheep – advanced management

This module covers more advanced topics in sheep production. It emphasises the connections between flock management, development and breeding for production.

Topics include:

Breeding cycle, nutrition. Specific metabolism / nutrition solutions

Health and welfare procedures. Immunisations, drenches

Supplying feed from difference sources

Disease prevention and management and specific animal health issues

Diagnosing common health and disease issues

Flock health.

Outcomes: With the help of your mentor draw up a plan that includes housing, grazing and feeding strategy, supplying balanced feed, breeding program, strategies for dealing with common health and disease issues, yearly health, breeding and maintenance program.
